Saturday Society- How are your Extraction Skills?

Editor's note: Today's post was written by Sandra Gardner-Benward

Root Cellar Sacramento Genealogical Society has a very active, dedicated and involved Extraction Committee, led by our fearless leader Marilyn Ulbricht.

Once a week, week after week, month after month and year after year after year after year we come together at 9am each Friday morning till noon. We have been extracting/indexing/abstracting at the
Center of Sacramento History  (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95811) guided by the Patricia Johnson Senior Archivist. & Volunteer Coordinator  (scroll down on P Johnsons page)

History for the Center of Sacramento History - very interesting place. AND a great resource for anyone who is reseaching Sacramento and Sacramento County.

Working with the Center of Sacramento History has been a win-win situation and we have formed a great partnership. Pat keeps an eye out for projects for us. She gives us a list of ideas and we look them all over and pick what we want to work on. This is not to say that everyone is working on the same project. There are all types of projects, some small, and quick and some very large and takes a very long time to complete. Marilyn helps to coordinate all the projects, puts them in book form and follows through with the printing of the book(s) and distribution. All of our publications are on sale at our website. This is something that we are very proud of and hope that we can continue for years to come.

.........and as we complete a project or a book we celebrate. We are very proud of our work and want to share it. See our publications list. As alot of you know, this type of work takes a lot of work, tedious, and lengthy but with great results for everyone. And we are hoping that in other parts of the state and in all the other states people like us are doing the same type of extraction.

ex: I live in Calfornia but have no ancestors here, so I hope that in Stark County, Ohio; Allegheny, PA; New Haven CT; Syracuse area, NY are all active with their extraction projects so it will be helping my research. Thank You.

Check out our Publications. We are very proud of our work!
