Mary E. Terrill GREENE OR Mollie E GREENE

After a seven year search I finally found the death date for my paternal great-grandmother, Mollie E. GREENE.  The brick wall tumbled down at 11 p.m. on July 15, 2013!

Mary E. Terrill GREENE was born on June 26, 1844 in Missouri.  In the late 1870’s or early 1880’s she and her husband moved from Howard County, Missouri to Texas.  Her middle name is probably Ellen.  The birth certificate for her youngest child, Mattie Rosa GREENE, has the mother’s name as Mary Ellen Terrill.

In 1882 Mattie Rosa was born in Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas.

The 1900 United States Federal Census lists Molly E. GREEN with her husband, Joe H. GREEN a.k.a. J. H. GREEN or Joel H. GREENE, residing with their son, Chactaw Lee GREEN a.k.a.    C. L. GREEN.

In 1904 and 1905 two of their twelve children married in Bosque County, Texas.  My grandfather, Frank H. GREEN, was one of the two children.  He married Annie Ruth WALES on January 2, 1905.

The 1910 United States Federal Census lists Mollie E. as head of the household in Bosque County. Based on the 1910 Census I began looking at every cemetery in Bosque County.

Using Find A Grave I found her headstone in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas.  I searched by entering her surname for each cemetery and looking for any GREEN or GREENE.  Her headstone shows her as M. E. GREENE wife of J. H. GREENE with death date, Apr. 16. 1912. I have contacted the Office of Bosque County Clerk and received a reply saying there is no death certificate for my great-grandmother.  So the search begins in other Texas counties to find her death certificate.

And so the story continues, always searching. ...... sound familar? Any clues for Carolee R. Jones
