Roseville Genealogical Society Meeting

Program: "Mining the Gold in County Archives"
Speaker: John Knox

He will explore the rich resources to be found in a County
Archives and share with you the resources that can only be found there.
John is the current Vice-President and member of the Research committee of the Placer County Genealogical Society. He is a retired History Teacher and has been doing family research for over 20 years. For the past 5 years he has been involved in research at the Placer County Archives and has authored a number of papers relating to the history of Auburn: Entertainment 1854 - 1855, George Bishop Census Analysis 1850-1880, and co-authored The Story of the Bernhard Family.
He is presently involved in a partnership to chronicle the history of downtown Auburn. One of the first products of this recent research is a walking tour brochure of Downtown Auburn.
Another is the story of Nancy McCormick, Auburn businesswoman of 1849, who barely exists except in county Archival Records.
